So You Need a New Cycling Bicycle?

Some folks think there is nothing easier than picking a cycling bicycle. Many people think they simply find the bike that looks good and feels comfortable. Wrong, there is more to it these days than simply looks and comfort. Cycling is increasing in popularity in many areas of life, such as sports, hobbies, transport etc. we now have many different bikes to choose from. Some people are choosing to cycle as a means of transportation on a regular basis. There are also plenty of families that cycle as a hobby. If you want to know those important things to look out for when selecting a bike, read the following.

One thing you can consider when choosing a bike is whether or not your feet can rest flat on the floor while you are sitting so you can stop yourself. There are those who say that this isn't the best way, though. It is their belief, that your time on your bicycle will be much more comfortable, if you allow your feet to remain several inches off the ground. When buying a new bike, you will see the seat is placed extremely low to the crossbar, so when you sit on the bike with your feet on the ground and are able to bend your knees, you should pick a different bike. try this out This is because when you are pedaling with this bike, your knees are going to come up too high. You shouldn't ever sit the seat at the lowest setting, which means sitting on the crossbar. Always consider that you are going to have to raise the seat up off the crossbar when you are shopping for your bike. You will have a much more comfortable experience when riding if you are able to get some clearance between the crossbar of the bicycle and you. The goal here is to create a height with your seat so that when your pedal is at its lowest position your leg should be almost (but not quite) fully extended.

You also want to make sure you leave some room between you and the crossbar of your bike. When you get a bike be sure to move the seat up a couple of inches from the crossbar. Make sure you can place both feet on the ground if need be. Different bikes will need differing clearance amounts. A touring bike for example will require around 1", perhaps slightly more. With a mountain bike however you will need some more, 3 inches should suffice.

There are lots of things to think about when you are buying a cycling bicycle. From how safe the bicycle is to what it looks like, there are lots of choices to make. If you don’t have a lot of experience with cycling bicycles, you will probably feel overwhelmed and insecure as you start your shopping. By investing a bit of your time to look at your preferences you will make the best decision.

Take your time to learn about your options before you shop. You’ll be glad you did!
